    Clara Hughes dedicates Gatineau win to Daron Richardson

    GATINEAU, Que. — Canadian cyclist Clara Hughes has dedicated her latest victory to Daron Richardson, the daughter of former NHL player Luke Richardson who took her own life last November.

    Hughes won the time trial race at the 2011 Chrono Gatineau on Thursday, overcoming a crash to finish the 17.35-kilometre course with a wining time of 23 minutes 49.17 seconds. Highes won despite leaving the start gate as the last rider.

    Inspiring conversations – raising awareness -- transforming youth mental health

    On November 12th, 2010, Daron Richardson took her own life. She was just 14 years old. The community reached out compassionately and Joined us in inspiring conversations and showing support not only for Daron Richardson’s family, but for all our young people who suffer in silence from the pain and stigma of mental Illness. On February 8th, hundreds of schools and organizations registered to wear Purple (Daron’s favourite colour).
